Spring Break at the Zoo

After Easter we headed out to Portland so the girls could go to the zoo. The night before we got to have dinner at The Olive Garden with our nephew Jeff. It was great to see him, it had been a year since he and and his girls moved to the Portland area.

A great picture of Jeff and "Uncle Buck"

The next day was "zoo" day and the girls were quite excited. They were given maps and took the job of navigating very seriously.

They were looking at some very big fish in this tank
The zoo has an area that is just like a farm so the girls got to hop on the tractor.

Then they hopped on the nearest horse.....

Then out to pet the goats.

After that it was off to see the baby Elephant.

Then we got to see the Polar Bears and boy were they performing for us. I love this picture I caught of a polar bear swimming on his back as Emma looked on.

My oh my bears are very big!

We got to go into the Lorikeet exihibit and the girls loved feeding them.

Emma looking very proud that one landed on her hand first.

We finally did what Emma came to the zoo for.....to ride the train. She was very happy.

Dallas checking out all the animals.

Sisters enjoying the ride.

Dallas took this picture of us. She did pretty good.

The next few pictures are of some of the animals we saw. The girls took most of these. Emma loves fruit bats so that's first on the list. She likes them so much she bought a stuffed animal fruit bat at the gift shop.

We had a great time at the zoo. We then headed to the Columbia river to meet up with friends. The day we left Portland it snowed and then snowed every where we went the rest of the week. Oh well it would have snowed at home too I'm sure. At least we were able to get out of town and the one nice day was Tuesday at the zoo.
