Christmas 2008

Well Christmas has come and gone. It always seems like a let down when it's all over. We had a good Christmas. It was quite....just the 4 of us this year. The roads were too bad for anyone to be traveling on. It was Greg's regular day to work and if it snows he goes in to get those roads plowed. It did just that. So the girls and I waited until he got home to open presents. That was around 1:00. Then it was off the the movies to see "Marley and Me." A tear jerker for sure. (tissue required) Then home for Ham dinner. It was a good day and we have so much to be thankful for. Here's a couple of pictures of the day.

Dallas and Emma's friends Logan and Ella came to Baker to visit their grandparents Shawna and Glen. They wanted to stop by and say Merry Christmas. What's snow without kids playing in it. And what cute kids at that!

Important Things in December!

On the 12th Rasean turned one year old. I can't believe how fast the year went. I was reflecting on how different last year was compared to this year. Rasean is much bigger.....and Amy is much smaller :)

As with most 1 year olds, Rasean was more interested in the paper and boxes than the presents.

Daddy helping with a little taste testing.

Mommy getting more than she bargined for.....

Isaiah enjoying the best part....the cake and ice cream.

Me....aka...Nana and mom enjoy a little Yo Gabba Gabba with the kids on the laptop. Personally I was enjoying the kids more than the show.

Thursday Dec. 11th was the Harvest Academy's Annual Christmas program. Dallas has a pretty long part in her skit and did it flawlessly. Emma had singing with her class and did wonderful also. Below is a picture with some of their friends all dressed up.

Two real cuties here!

Some actions shots are always good.

Here's some video of the girls...its a little dark but too cute.

1st Annual Turkey Trot

On Thanksgiving morning Amy, pushing Isaiah and Greg participated in Baker's 1st 5K Turkey Trot. Proceeds from the race went to help feed the hungry in Baker County. Dallas, Emma, and Vicki along with Jebron and Rasean came to meet the walkers at the finish line and take their pictures.

Here's two winners in my book!

After a hard workout in the stroller, Isaiah earned his cookie.

Amy and Jebron at the finish line with Rasean behind.

After this was over we went home and enjoyed a turkey dinner (number 3 for us this month) with Nanny and Bompums, who came from Boise. It was a great day spent with loved ones. We have so much to be thankful for. We were especially thankful the turkey finally got done ;)

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving Greg and two other employees from OR State Highway Department brought the heavy equipment they use in their jobs to the school. Below is Greg showing the kids the size of a snow plow.

The kids got to climb in the grater and touch the things inside.

Emma and a school mate hammed it up from the inside.

As well as Dallas and her friends. The day was a great success. Greg and the other guys did a wonderful job.

AWANA Thanksgiving Feast

Dallas and Emma both had a part in the Thanksgiving program at AWANA. But before the program they fed the families a huge feast of food. This was the second turkey dinner we've had in November. The first one was early in November at our church.
We had a kids table...no adults allowed

Emma had one word to say and it was "cod" She did a fantastic job saying that word ;)

Dallas is waiting to say her lines too.

New Glasses!

After we got home from Boise the following week both girls had appointments with the eye doctor. Emma had prefect vision.....but Dallas' vision not so perfect. Good thing she's at the age when all kids want glasses. She loves them. Emma doesn't think the doctor was right with her testing.....she's sure she needs glasses too.

Trip to Boise

On November 16th my parents (Nanny and Bompums) celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary so we headed to their house to help them with the celebrating.

After church we headed to the Cheese Factory for some lunch. They sure know how to cook there. The waitress took our picture.

Halloween 2008

Every Halloween our church puts on a Trunk or Treat. Church members decorate their car trunk and hand out candy in the church parking lot. It loads of fun. This year the girls wanted to be princesses (big surprise!). The event is getting so popular that this year we ran out of candy and our youth pastor had to make a mad dash to the store to get more.

Here is Jen with her boys Alec and Gus.

This is another trunk with princesses in it. They were all over the place. These girls go to school with Dallas and Emma. Pictured are Princes Elly, Savannah, and Naomi.

Dallas walking her friend Marno's dog.

Emma handing out candy.

Soccer Awards

The girls played soccer for the first time this year. They liked it at the beginning when the weather was nice and warm.....but as the season moved along and the days got colder their love for the sport cooled off too. At the last game it was 34 degrees with 40 mph winds. That one pretty much did them in. Dallas said she would much rather swim.

The kids got ice cream before their awards.

They each got a medallion to hang on their wall.

Here they are showing off their medallions with their ice cream faces. I was proud of them for finishing what they started, even if they don't ever want to play it again.

Dallas' 7th Birthday

We celebrated Dallas' Birthday in La Grande at Amy and Jebron's house. We surprised her with an hour of horse back riding. She loved it and so did Emma.

After that we went back to Amy and Jebron's for dinner cake and ice cream......and of course the presents.
