Summer Vacation & Dallas' 1st Day in 1st Grade

Dallas started school on August 25th, a whole 12 hours after we got home from vacation. Emma starts on September 2nd. Below is Dallas with Charles, Jasmine, and her friend Alyssa.

Savannah, Dallas, and Alyssa finally reuniting after summer.

Dallas and her new teacher Mr. Potter. She was very excited to have a man teacher this year.

August 14th we headed out for Lincoln City and the beach. Alone the way we stopped and had lunch by this fruit stand that also had pony rides. This was our hottest day on vacation.

When we got to the KOA campground at Devil's Lake, Greg and I were setting up camp and all of the sudden Dallas called out for us to look at her. She had climbed this very tall pine tree to see what was in it. It turns out there was a cage up there with nothing in it. I had to zoom in to get this picture. She climbed down as fast as she got up...the little monkey.

Emma kept an eye on Dallas from the ground :)

We finally made it to the beach. This was the only nice day. After that we got an inch of rain while we were there. Amazing!

When the weather went south we decided to take in the Aquarium at Newport. The girls really enjoyed touching the starfish.

What beautiful colors!

We took the girls to a lighthouse and they got to go inside it. As you can see the fog was hanging around.

Another day we went to the Tillamook Cheese factory, where they have tours and we got to see how cheese was made. We also shopped at the Factory outlet mail to get some school clothes before heading to the State Fair.

Laura, Lynne and Justin (Laura's boyfriend) met us at the State Fair and camped with us until Sunday. We had lots of fun and saw tons of animals.

Greg, Dallas, Emma, and Lynne hamming it up for the camera.

Justin and Lynne on the night before we left.

The three girls stopping long enough for a picture. There was an open field they played in while we were at camp.

Laura and Lynne checking out the animals.

Emma spying on a baby goat.

This girl who brought her goat to fair let the girls go into the pen and pet it. It was so nice and two of the three girls enjoyed it. Emma didn't want to get that up close and personal with the goat!

What little girl isn't just a little horse crazy. Dallas is that little girl....all she wanted to do was see the horses.

The trip wouldn't be complete without a hug from Smokey.

As summer comes to an end and I look back on all we did I know why I'm so tired ;) Our summers are so short and the winters long, that we put as much into 3 months as possible. All and all it was a great one. Now with fall comes school and soccer. Next week Emma startes Kindergarten and they both will have soccer games. We are still busy but enjoying every minute of it, watching the girls growing into what God intended them to be. We are truly blessed!

Swimming Revisited.......

Once a week the girls have private swim lessons with Miss Laurie. Here are some pictures of Emma learning how to dive. She's getting quite good at it considering she's only five. She will be able to join the swim team next year if she wants to.

Emma was pretty proud of what she accomplished at this lesson.

Dallas finished up with the swim team this week after doing the Swim-a-thon. I can't believe she swam a mile in an hour. Way to go Dallas!

She did the Butterfly for part of it, but not too many laps because that stroke wears she out.
