John Day Swim Meet

We attended the John Day, OR Swim Meet last weekend and had a wonderful time. It's a small meet with a 25 meter pool and only 5 lanes. They had lots of fun things to do for the kids, which for the team makes this the best meet of the year.

Above Dallas is swimming the 50 freestyle. She's the middle swimmer and took 2nd in this event. She won this heet though.

One of the fun races they had after the meet was a watermelon rely race. 3 of the girls and one boy entered the race. Here is Dallas swimming with the watermelon. Below is 3 of the 4 eight and under girls on the team. Eva, Carson (both eight), and Dallas (on the right). Dallas who is six is swimming in this catagory and most of the swimmers are 7 or 8. There aren't too many 6 year olds.

Here are Dallas' times and events she swam over the weekend.

25 Freestyle 2nd place 20.27 seconds (she missed 1st by .26 seconds and the 1st place girl was 8)

50 Freestyle 2nd place 46.38 seconds

25 Backstroke 2nd place 20.27 seconds

Girls 10 & under 100 meter medley relay 1st place 1:42.16(she swam anchor)

Girls 8 and under 100 meter Freestyle Relay 1st place 1:45.33 (she again swam anchor)

She improved all of her times at this meet. Great job Dallas!

Bubble Pool Bliss

Today we went to our friends, Roger and Sherrill's house for a BBQ. Their grandkids were visiting and Dallas and Emma really enjoy hanging out with them when they are in town. As you can see they have a bubble pool too. It's really Sherrill's pool but she lets the kids play in it! ;)

Dallas and Emma, Destin and Mazie cooling off.

This is Jurny, Mazie and Destin's little brother. He's quite the charmer and ALL boy!

Here is Sherrill and her mom Shirley after a wonderful meal. Thanks for the great food and company! Shirley you're quite a hoot!

Amy and the boys came over for the day last Friday so we could go to the "Miner's Jubilee" together. After touring the park and all the Artisans, we decided it was hot and we needed to cool down. I love this picture of Amy and Rasean. I think he looks like his mommy!

Below are three pictures of Emma, Isaiah, and Dallas jumping off the ladder.

How many people can fit in one bubble pool? I see room for a few more :)

After church last Sunday Tom and Toni White and theirs kids Jacob, Matthew, and Bethany came over for some BBQ'd burgers and a little splash time in the pool. The weather cooperated nicely too.

Emma taking a break from the fun to dry off before dinner.

Tom and Toni enjoying the sun and fun. We enjoyed you coming over for the afternoon!

Happy Happy 4th!

Well the 4th of July has come and gone. We camped at Pilcher creek for a few days. We were going to go to Beaver Meadows, but the girls wanted to see the fireworks in Haines, so we stayed closer to home. My new camera has a setting for fireworks so I included a few pictures taken at Haines.

The kids had lots of fireworks to light before the big show. Dallas is no longer afraid of fireworks and Emma informed me she was 5 now and wasn't afraid either. All was well until we started to light them. She decided she might have to be 6 before she wasn't afraid. She watched from the car.

The Fillebrowns camped with us for a couple days. We enjoyed hanging with them and by the way they have two awesome kids; Charles and Jasmine are quite fun to camp with. They are on the swim team with Dallas too.

Charlie and Daphne waiting for the big ones to go off.

I got a picture of Greg and the girls before Emma high tailed it to the car.

Our camp!

Dallas and Emma decided they were big enough to sleep by themselves in a tent instead of the trailer. They gave it a try and loved it. Greg and I loved it too, because we didn't have to make the table into a bed every night, then back to a table in the morning. Our dog Sadie, a Golden Retriever slept in the tent too.

Greg's friend was camped up there and had a paddle boat. Greg showed the kids how to steer it, then he bailed out and let them try it themselves.

This was the view from the kitchen window in the trailer. We live in a beautiful part of the world and are very blessed by the beauty of God's creation!
